About David Wessells

David’s true passion and focus is Player Development. As an under-recruited high school athlete with limited instruction, David arrived to college realizing he was far behind in terms of his development, especially as a hitter. This caused him to truly deep dive the swing, different hitting methods, and how his swing compared to the best in the world. Through this research, David was able to reconstruct his swing and saw his production go through the roof at college. From being an under-recruited high school player to a 4-time 1st Team All-Empire 8 player, a 3-Time All-Region player, and the Houghton College career leader in hits, walks, runs, on base percentage, stolen bases, and total bases.

As his playing career ended, David discovered his passion of being the coach and mentor he needed. He launched Zeal Hitting Development so athletes will have a coach and mentor to provide the instruction, programming, environment to see results!

Our Services

  • Receive 1 on 1 or Group Instruction from MLB/MiLB Consultant David Wessells. We provide 30 min or 60 min sessions. (Athletes 13 & Under must do 30 Min).

  • Our Membership is for High School or College Athletes that want to go all-in. Weekly Hitting Sessions, Sports Performance Programs, Facility Access, and Remote Programming for 24/7 Development.

  • The Zeal Select travel organization is a part of our facility that combines our high level development programs and travel baseball. We are changing the travel ball game by being solely focused on development and preparing athletes to play at the next level.

    While Zeal Select is a big part of our facility, our training is open to athletes from any organization and any team!

  • If you’re a coach interested in having your team come work with David at Zeal, we offer team hitting sessions.

    High Level Instruction, Hitting Stations, Machine Work, and use our technology to ensure your team is getting the training they need in the offseason.
